Augusta L. "Gussie" Lienemann, age 86 of Highland, died at 5:50 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Eden Village Retirement Center in Glen Carbon, IL. She was born in Edwardsville on March 24, 1926, the daughter of Frank and Helen (Schmidt) Langwisch. She married Henry C. Lienemann on June 21, 1947 in Edwardsville. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2011.
After her marriage, she stayed home to raise her family. She never worked out of the home. She and her husband moved to Highland in 1978.
Mrs. Lienemann enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking and cooking, and she was well-known for her pies and cheese cakes. She and her husband enjoyed ballroom dancing in Germantown, Lindendale Park in Highland, and all places that have ballroom dancing. She also enjoyed playing with their dog "Dude," who died, and now "Lucky Lady."
She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, VFW
Post #5694, and a former member of Edwardsville Moose Lodge #1561.
Survivors include three sons: Charles H. (Karen) Lienemann of Wood River, Morse E. (Mary) Lienemann of Edwardsville, and Kenneth A. Lienemann of Highland; one daughter, Marlene M. (Paul) Kustermann, of Highland; one son-in-law, Jimmy Hall of Granite City; ten grandchildren: Julie A. Norbury of Saint Jacob, Lisa M. Kustermann (significant other Nick Meyers) of Highland, Marla (B.J.) Streight of Ohio, Joseph A. (Kristen) Kustermann of Highland, Vanessa R. (Michael) Maine of Grantfork, Christy L. Lienemann of Highland, Kendra R. Lienemann of Highland, Donnie (Krystal) Lienemann of Granite City, Darren Isbrecht of St. Louis, MO, and Amanda Isbrecht; ten great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Hazel Renz of Carlinville, and Isabella (Paul) Kelly of Bethalto.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara A. Hall; three brothers, Wilbur Langwisch, Alvin J. Langwisch, and Frank Langwisch; and two sisters, Eleanor Ashauer and Helen Dickmann.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 6 and from 8 to 9 a.m. on Monday, January 7 at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 7 at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland with Rev. Father Paul Kala, Catholic Campus Minister at S.I.U.E., officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville.
