Curtis Albert Reinacher, age 85 of Alhambra, IL, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
He was born in Highland, IL on January 2, 1928, the son of Albert L. and Emma Louise (Sudhoff) Reinacher. He married Wilma Marie Barenfenger in Prairietown, IL on February 16, 1958. She preceded him in death on August 28, 2006.
Curt was born in Highland and a 1946 graduate of Highland High School. After school he worked at Hagnauer and Knoebel Hardware Co. as a mechanic. In October of 1950, he entered the U.S. Army
and spent 18 months in Japan. After returning home he returned to Hagnauer and Knoeble and worked there for a total of 16 years. In 1964, he started to work for Gehrig's Store in Alhambra as a propane truck driver and service repairman. He spent 30 years there and retired in 1994. He and his wife enjoyed Polka dancing and attended Polka Festivals in Michigan. He also collected toy tractors and traveled to toy tractor shows and loved visiting with other collectors.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Prairietown, St. Peter's Lutheran Church Head Usher, Alhambra Volunteer Fire Dept. (30 years service), Madison County Fire Association, 3 M Fire Association, Alhambra American Legion Post 1147, and Life Member of VFW
Post 5694 Highland.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Gloria M. Barenfenger of Alhambra, IL; brother, Melvin R. Reinacher of Marine, IL; two sisters, Delores E. (Dean) Rinderer of Highland, IL, and Virginia I. (Anton "Tony") Vosholler of Highland, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Louis Reinacher and Emma L. Reinacher nee Sudhoff; a sister, Dorothy Reinacher, who died at birth; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth A. Reinacher nee Plocher, who died August 18, 2004.
Evening visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Prairietown, IL. Morning visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 02, 2013 from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by funeral service at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dale A. Skeesick, of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be at Prairietown Cemetery.
