Robert F. "Bob" Landolt, age 80 of Alhambra, IL, died at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra. He was born in Litchfield, IL, on June 26, 1933, the son of Harold and Ann (Arkabauer) Landolt. He married Judith A. Hanser at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Grantfork, IL, on April 23, 1960. She preceded him in death on August 4, 2006.
Mr. Landolt was born and raised in Alhambra, IL, and attended Alhambra Grade School. In 1951, he graduated from St. Paul High School in Highland. He graduated from the University of Illinois
in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He then joined the U.S. Navy
and served on the USS Bonhomme Richard. After his service, he helped run the family grocery and meat business in Alhambra. In 1969, he and his wife, Judy, purchased Diamond Mineral Springs, where they owned and operated until 1980. He was later a butcher in Grantfork, IL. He enjoyed fishing, goose hunting, and Cardinal baseball.
Mr. Landolt was a member of Saint Gertrude Catholic Church in Grantfork, IL. He was Treasurer of the Village of Alhambra; Alhambra Township Auditor; a member of the Grantfork Volunteer Fire Department; President of the Alhambra Volunteer Fire Department; President of the Firemen & Legion Park Association; Secretary of the Alhambra Community Club; and a 50+ Member of the Highland Knights of Columbus Council 1580.
Survivors include his children, Robert S. "Rob" Landolt of Edwardsville, IL, Carol A. (Michael) Wessel of Alhambra, IL, and Leasa M. (Eddie) Caperton of Marine, IL; three grandchildren, Christopher Wessel of Alhambra, IL, Megan Caperton of Marine, IL, and Zachary Caperton of Marine, IL; and a sister, Phyllis (Joseph) Dickman of Edwardsville, IL.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ann Landolt; a grandchild, Kelsey A. Wessel, who died July 20, 2010; a brother, Allan Landolt; and a sister, Sister Anne Miriam.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2013 and again from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra. Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 4, at Saint Gertrude Catholic Church in Grantfork with Father Pat G. Jakel, Pastor of St. Gertrude, officiating. Burial will be at Saint Gertrude Catholic Cemetery in Grantfork.
