Charles Brazier
Charles F. "Chuck" Brazier, age 83 of Edwardsville, IL, died at 11:45 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, IL. He was born July 19, 1929 in Akron, OH, the son of Vincent and Cloe (Morris) Brazier. He married Doris M. Wood, and she preceded him in death.
Charles was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Edwardsville, the Masonic Lodge of Edwardsville, and the American Legion Post 199 of Edwardsville. He was the Past Commander of Madison/Bond American Legion and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was the Parade Marshall and organizer of the Veterans Day Parades in Edwardsville. He worked many years with the Edwardsville Little League and was instrumental with the decorating of downtown Edwardsville with Christmas lights along with the Jay Cee's.
Charles worked as an electrician at SIU-E for 32 years, retiring in 1991.
Survivors include his sons, Phillip (Laurie) Brazier of Sparks, NV, Charles P. (Dana) Brazier of Cottage Hills, and Paul (Julie) Brazier of Edwardsville; a sister Helen (Dick) Evanson of Florida; grandchildren Emily, Vincent, Courtney, Dylan, Deven, Kelsey and Raleigh; and great-grandson Trenton.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29 with Dr. John C. Hembruch and Rev. Brad Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church Youth Fellowship.
