Carl Lynn Weakley, age 64 of Edwardsville, IL, formerly of Sullivan, IL, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013 at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born in Decatur, IL on November 29, 1948 to Carl Weakley and Oka Bernadine Kidwell Shaw. He married Sally J. Thompson on July 3, 1967 in Paris, IL. She survives.
Carl spent 42 years in the Edwardsville area and was a member of First Christian Church of Edwardsville, Edwardsville Masonic Lodge #99, Past Master, Treasurer of Scottish Rite of Belleville, Eastern Star Chapter #667 Past Patron, Rotary Club of Edwardsville, GlenEd Chamber of Commerce, Edwardsville Gun Club, and Past President of Vintage Karting Association. He worked at the Carl L. Weakley CPA firm in Edwardsville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Douglas (Heather) Weakley of Edwardsville, Stacy J. Weakley of Glen Carbon, and Samantha (Kevin) Price of Greenwood, IN; grandchildren Max, Simon, Noah, Benjamyn Weakley, Alexandra and Ethan Price; sisters Donna (John) Peterson of Edinburg, IL, and Joyce (Michael) Edmonds of Sullivan, IL; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Weakley and Oka Bernadine Shaw.
Visiting hours will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville. A Masonic service will follow visitation at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan with Rev. Rebecca Ingram officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan.
