Carol Ann (Stunkel) Baumann age 72, of Highland, Illinois died at 7:32 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at her residence.
She was born October 5, 1941 in Alton, IL to the late Alvin Charles Stunkel and Lorene (Smith) Stunkel.
Carol attended school in the Edwardsville school system and graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1958. After graduation she attended Brown's Business School in St. Louis, MO. She then worked for International Shoe Company in St. Louis, MO, Illinois Department of Human Services, Michigan Potato Counsel while living in Michigan, St. Joseph Hospital in Highland, Missouri Pacific Railroad in St. Louis,MO and then retired from SIUE police department after more than 28 years as the Administrative assistant to the Chief of Police.
Survived by a daughter Cindy of Champaign, IL and her two daughters Jariah and Tiffani; a son Craig (Michelle) Baumann and their son Dalton of Indian Land, South Carolina; and son Clay (Iryna) Baumann of Highland, Il and their son Dmytro and daughter Elizabeth. Carol had many dear friends who were with her during her battle with cancer, Judy, Catherine, Sheryl, Tootie and Deloris.
Carol volunteered at the Highland Area Food Pantry and was on the Board of Directors of the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Highland, IL, was a member at large of the Madison County Home and Extension of the University of Illinois. She previously served as president and other offices before serving on the University of Illinois State Extension Board. Carol was a 4-H member and enjoyed exhibiting registered swine with her father at various fairs in Illinois. She was also a member of Madison County Rural Youth.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home, with Rev. John Roberts officiating. Interment will be at St. James Cemetery in Ft. Russell Township, Illinois.
Carol's family would like to express their thanks to Heartland Hospice, Alex, Kim, Kelly, Melanie, Gina, & Paula for all of the special care that they provided.
