Nina Lee Rosenthal, 81, of Edwardsville, Illinois, died at 2:30 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2013, following a brief illness.

She was born June 15, 1932, in Herrin, Illinois, the daughter of the late Charles and Ida Whittenberg.
She married Norman W. Rosenthal on December 27, 1950, and he preceded her in death on February 11, 1998.
Nina is survived by five children: Cindy (Robert) Goodwin of Rotonda West, Florida, Pamela Rosenthal of Edwardsville, Cheryl Rosenthal of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jeff Rosenthal of Edwardsville, and Beth Rosenthal of Edwardsville; three grandchildren: Bobby, Rick and Rodney Goodwin; six great-grandchildren: Anthony, Jordan, Grace, Sara, Lilly and Mason Goodwin; sisters-in-law LaRita Gergen and Carole Rosenthal; cousins Jerry (Pat) Barton and David (Carol) Bardelmeier; numerous nieces and nephews; her dog, Rocky; and many dear friends.
Nina was an active member of Eden United Church of Christ in Edwardsville, the Eden Guild and the VFW Women's Auxiliary, and a former member of the Edwardsville Moose Lodge. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and loved reading, playing cards and spending time with her friends.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 23, at Eden United Church of Christ in Edwardsville, with Pastor John Roberts officiating.
Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Edwardsville.
Memorials may be made to Eden United Church of Christ or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
