Robert C. "Bob" Anderson Jr., 77, of Pontoon Beach, Illinois passed away at 7:09 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Eden Village in Glen Carbon.

He was born December 27, 1935 in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Robert C. and Catherine (Loehnberg) Anderson Sr.
He married Dorothy Jean (Belling) Anderson on September 12, 1959 at the Ethical Society in St. Louis, Missouri and she survives.
He retired from the Granite City School District in 1994 after 33 years of dedicated service as a 6th grade teacher at Stallings, Johnson and Marshall Schools. He was a member of the American Federation of Teachers and was a 1961 graduate and alumni of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
His love of music was a major part of his life and enjoyed his years of playing the trombone with the Granite City and Edwardsville Municipal Bands and was a member of the Musicians Union. In his younger days he played with a band called the Rhythmaires and in his adult years played with the Heritage Dance Band. He was devoted member of the Elks Lodge #1063, was a Boy Scout leader and helped with the Band Parents at the high school. He enjoyed his days of traveling and jogging and will be remembered as the fun loving husband, dad, grandpa and friend to all whom knew him.
In addition to his beloved wife of over 53 years, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Michael Hubert and Cindy and Dave Ramey; two grandsons, Christopher and Thomas Ramey, all of Pontoon Beach; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bill and Carolyn Belling of Granite City and Linda and Richard Hunt of Hartford; niece, Cathy Greenman of Pontoon Beach; several nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Henry "Bud" Anderson and one sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Charlie Foiles.
In celebration of his life, a memorial visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
An Elks service will be held at 6:00 p.m.
