Stephen J. Siegel Jr., 90, of Maryville, Illinois passed away at 1:28 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at his home.

He was born September 9, 1922 in East St. Louis, the son of the late Stephen J. and Susan (Danco) Siegel. He married Eva M. (Grabin) Siegel on July 3, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri and she preceded him in death on June 18, 2004.
He retired from the Department of Army in 1978 as the Director of Systems Management with the Federal Government Automated Logistics Management Systems Agency. The United States Army veteran proudly served his country during World War II and was the recipient of The Purple Heart from injuries occurred in Metz, France. He was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville and a former member of the Catholic War Veterans. He enjoyed his days of boating, working crossword puzzles and woodworking and was a big fan of baseball. The love and special times shared with his family and friends will never be forgotten.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Jack Grieves of Edwardsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Carla Siegel of Fairview Heights; a grandson, Jason Grieves of Edwardsville; a granddaughter, Casey Grieves of Edwardsville; a sister, Norma Mertzen of Maryville; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
Burial with military honors will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials may be made to a
