Fred A. Lampe, of Edwardsville, died July 1st, 2012. He was born April 8, 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Fred and Linda Lampe. He leaves his wife, Marion, step-daughter Gilda Cruse, both of Edwardsville, step-son Alexander Cambon and wife, Anne, of Louisville, Kentucky, and step-daughter Natalie Gude and husband Erick, of San Diego, California, as well as grandchildren Nathan and Martha Cruse, of Edwardsville, Jesse and Joel Cambon of Louisville, Kentucky, and Audrey Gude of San Diego, California.

Fred received a B.A. and M.A. from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri, and a PhD from the University of Kansas. He was a member of the Association of American Geographers and the Illinois Geographical Society. He was a professor of geography at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville from 1972 to 1992.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 14 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville. Memorial service will follow at the church at 11:00 a.m.
