James Francis Miller, age 63 of Edwardsville, IL, formerly of Granite City, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born in Berkeley, CA on April 14, 1950, the son of James F. Miller and Marlene Blumenstock Miller. He married Christine Jackovich on March 16, 1978 in Edwardsville. She survives.
James was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. He lived in Venice for many years and served as an Alderman in Granite City from 1987 - 1995 and 1999 - 2000. He was a member of the Madison - Venice Lions, Edwardsville Gun Club, and Council 1098 Knights of Columbus. He worked as a policy writer for the Illinois Department of Public Health, and Union Electric for 27 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Marlene Blumenstock Miller, of Granite City; children, James and Kristi Harper of Edwardsville, Mark and Jennifer Miller of Edwardsville, Brody and Jennifer Robertson of Eureka, MO, Josh and Stacy Hildebrand of St. Louis, MO, and Jim and Jen Bone of Edwardsville; grandchildren Edith, Claire, Kali, Jack, Saer, Nolan, Alissa, Logan and Skylar; sister Mary Catherine (Steve) Schwenk of Ft. Myers, FL, and Lorette Coghlan of Granite City; and brothers John (Cindy) Miller and Paul Miller of Granite City.
He was preceded in death by his father, James F. Miller.
Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at St. Boniface with Fr. Jeff Goeckner officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface School.
