Matthew D. "Matt" Anson, age 34 of Edwardsville, IL born April 30, 1982 in Princeton, IL passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at his residence.
Matt earned his Bachelor's Degree from University of Illinois and Master's Degree from Washington University both in Aerospace Engineering. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He worked as a propulsion engineer for Boeing in St. Louis, MO for the last 11 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville. He enjoyed coaching his son's T-ball team, was very hardworking, and was a devoted and loving husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Russ and Gloria Hansen.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine "Kate" nee Shaw Anson, whom he married December 31, 2005; a son, Thomas Matthew Anson; two daughters: Gwendolyn Rose and Eva Katherine Anson; his father, David Anson of IL; his mother, Vicki (Dave) nee Hansen Stuart of Peru, IL; a brother, Adam (Allison) Anson of Minonk, IL; grandparents: Richard and Fran Anson of Princeton, IL; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Tom and Tammy Shaw of Dixon, IL; in-laws: Tom (Laura) Shaw of Plainfield, IL, Ben (Joon) Shaw of Frankfort, Germany, Peter (Jamie) Shaw of Dixon, IL, Mary Shaw of St. Louis, MO, and Kylie Shaw of Dixon, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2pm to 5pm on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Maryville, 7110 State Route 162, Maryville, IL.
Funeral service will be at 5pm following the visitation with Rev. Dr. Tom Hufty and Rev. Nate Bock officiating.
Memorials can be made to the Katherine Anson Childrens College Fund and will be received during the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
