Mark E. Meyer, age 59, of Edwardsville, Illinois died at 2:47 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
Mark was a chemist and worked at Missouri Electrochem in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born October 3, 1954, at Alton, Illinois the son of the late Eugene & Ruth (Long) Meyer.
He married Evelyn "Evie" Beccue on March 21, 1980, at Lincoln, Illinois. Besides his wife he is survived by 1 son, Verl Prather & his wife Kim of Springfield, Illinois; 2 daughters, Lori Prather of Prairietown and Tammy Scully & husband John of Springfield; 7 grandchildren, Natalie Horton of Springfield, Megan Matheny of Normal, Leah Prather of Lincoln, Verl Ian Prather of Lincoln, and John William Scully of Springfield, Jessica Gates & Kyle Gates of Springfield; 3 great grandchildren, Marshall Horton, Benjamin Bryson, and Amelia Grace Matheny; 6 brothers, Paul Meyer & his wife Pam of Alton, David Meyer of Bunker Hill, James Meyer of Golden Eagle, Robert Meyer & his wife Eileen of Staunton, Phillip Meyer of Prairietown, and Gerald Meyer & his wife Barbara of Staunton; and several nieces & nephews.
Mark was an alumni of Illinois State University.
He was preceded in death by 1 brother, John Meyer
He was a loving husband and affectionately known by his children & grandchildren as "Poppy".
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home.
Services will follow at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. John Shank officiating.
Mark will be cremated following services.
Family requests memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Trinity Lutheran Church.
