Olen "Dale" Johnson, age 61, of Bunker Hill, formerly of Edwardsville, died at 9:47 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

He was born Jan. 11, 1949 in Tennessee Ridge, Tenn., the son of the late Edward and Bertha (Kessel) Johnson.
Dale worked in the dental supply business his entire career and was currently working for Patterson Dental Supply in St. Louis.
He married Jean L. Gilomen on April 4, 1970 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marine. She survives. Dale is also survived by one son, William E. Johnson and wife Karen of Edwardsville, two grandchildren, Lauren and Lindsay Johnson, three brothers, Ed Johnson and wife Darilyn, of Troy, Bob Johnson and wife Carol, of Troy, Dave Johnson, of Paris, Tenn., and one sister, Clara Holloway, of Troy.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Judy Johnson, and a brother-in-law, Jake Holloway.
Dale served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He had a small farm where he raised Belgian Draft horses, enjoyed being outdoors and loved spending time with his family. Dale was an avid hunter, fisherman and was also a member of Ducks Unlimited.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25 at Weber and Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edwardsville, with Fr. Bill Kessler and Fr. Tom Meyer in charge.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Edwardsville.
Memorial may be made in lieu of flowers to Lauren and Lindsay Johnson Scholarship Fund or St. Mary's School.
