Janice M. Landrem, age 71, of Staunton, Illinois, died at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Life Care Center of Florissant, Missouri. She was born April 23, 1941, in Henderson, Kentucky, the daughter of Elizabeth E. (Donahue) Adkins and the late Thurman G. Adkins. She married Jerry E. Landrem on September 3, 1960, in Paducah, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1988.

Janice worked for 20 years as a secretary in the Housing/Maintenance Department at SIU-Edwardsville, leaving the job in 2008. She had previously worked at Jubelt's Bakery in Staunton for several years.
She was a member of First united Baptist Church of Staunton and the Staunton Chapter of Tops Club IL #1676. She was an avid quilter sharing her gift with many including Quilts For Kids. She loved keeping her hands busy with needlework and crocheting. She loved reading and swapping books with friends, and she also took stained glass classes and handcrafted many beautiful pieces.
She is survived by one daughter, Michelle (John) Dierker, of Morton; one son, Richard A. Landrem Sr., of Worden; three grandchildren: Allison and Adam Dierker, and Richard A. Landrem Jr.; her mother, Elizabeth E. Adkins, of Henderson, Kentucky; two sisters, Chris Jones, of West Paducah, Kentucky, and Glenda Bruner, of Owensboro, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at First United Baptist Church in Staunton with Rev. Mark Allison officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton.
