Luverne R. Hanson (Pasenow), age 77, of Glen Carbon, Illinois died on March 12, 2013 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon.
She was born on February 19th, 1936 on the family farm in Greenwood Township, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Adelheid Jeske Pasenow. Surviving is her sister Lila (Helmut) Wipprecht, of Cobalt, Ontario, nieces Susan (Dieter) Scheunemann of Naughton, Ontario and Mary (Terry) Andrews of Lively, Ontario, nephews John Wipprecht of North Bay, Ontario, Fred (Lori) Pagenkopf of Minnetonka, Jim Hanson of Brainerd and Loren Hanson of Maple Grove.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin A. Hanson, sister Eleanor Pagenkopf and her brothers Leonard and Folbert Pasenow.
Mel and Luverne met while working at the University of Minnesota, married in 1966 and moved to Glen Carbon when Mel accepted a position as a professor at Southern Illinois University. Luverne spent over 40 years in Glen Carbon with Mel tending to their beloved cats and landscaped yard and gardens at 3012 Mark Trail Drive.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on March 23rd at Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Crystal Minnesota with visitation one hour before the service. Interment will be at Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, Wisconsin.
