John Krekovich Sr, age 78, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

John was born on May 30, 1935 in Madison, IL, a son to the late Matthew and Mary (Novich) Krekovich.
John served his country proudly in the United States Air Force in the Strategic Air Command. On June 15, 1957, John married Loretta Boyle, the love of his life at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Mitchell, IL. He was the founder and owner of John Krekovich Realty in Granite City, IL for thirty one years and was the Past President of the Granite City Board of Realtors.
John enjoyed his days of boating, fishing and golfing with his many golf buddies. He was also very meticulous about his yard. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. John will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Niesciur; and brother-in-law, William Niesciur.
He is survived by his loving wife, Loretta Krekovich of Granite City, IL; five dear children, Kathy Viviano of Naples, FL, John (Diane) Krekovich Jr. of Edwardsville, IL, Danny Krekovich Sr. of St. Louis, MO, Kristy (Tom Freeman) Krekovich of St. Louis, MO and Matt (Rhonda) Krekovich of Granite City, IL; sister, Rosalie Jean Zevallos of Palm Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Lindsay (Richard) Carney, Danny (Dana) Krekovich Jr. Ashley Krekovich and John Paul Krekovich; two great-grandchildren, Ella Carney and Jack Carney; dear nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation: friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Rd. Granite City, IL. In celebration of his life, funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Father Chris Comerford officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL.
