Ed Black Obituary

COLEMAN Ed "Scoot" Black, age 91, of San Angelo, Texas, passed from this life on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at 12:17 a.m. in College Park Rehab Care Center in Weatherford. Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Rockwood Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman. He was born Eldon Drew Black on Nov. 30, 1921, in Novice, Texas, to the late Charles Knox and Willie McClung Black. Ed was raised in Coleman County where he attended Novice schools also attending and graduating from Rockwood High School in 1941. In 1941, he married Margaret Bryan in Seattle, Wash. Ed served his country in the U.S. Naval Forces during World War II receiving the Purple Heart serving on the USS Enterprise. He was a past resident of San Angelo, where he was a member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church. Ed was a horse trainer and owner, retiring in 2004, and a member of the State Racing Board. Survivors include three daughters, Elaine Storm of San Angelo, Texas, Jan and husband Roger Hanna of Weatherford, Texas, and Sharla Brussard of Utopia, Texas; daughter-in-law Peggy Black of San Angelo, Texas; seven grandchildren, Shauna and Cory Owens, Bryan and Brityn Black, Nicole and Mike Deans, Nathan Storm, Phoebe Thomerson, Justin Hanna and Lacee Hanna; three great-grandchildren, Slater Storm, Darby Deans and Dristyn Deans; and special nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his son, Gary Black, in 2007; and by two sisters; and four brothers.

Mr. Black ia and was, by far, one of FAVORITE patients. He and saughter Jan (& family) always made the visits great and my days better. Im better because of patients like Mr. Black. Thank you for allowing me to have been a part. I truly loved your family member.

Ed was a Friendly n Out going Gentleman ,as I remember him n loved hanging out among Friends at The OlD COACH SALOON . Condolences to all his Family ,i'm sure he will be missed .Amen
