SAN ANGELO Grover Oran Reat, retired Colonel United States Air Force, of Brownwood, Texas, formerly of San Angelo, passed away Feb. 17, 2014, at his residence. Col. Reat was born Sept. 26, 1918, to Ada and Travis Reat in Dime Box, Texas. He attended school in Marlin, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas
in Austin 1939. He married Jane Watkins in Llano in 1942, who preceded him in death March 16, 2001. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Jane Ann and James Lunn of Sandia Park, N.M., Judy and Larry Ehrke of Brownwood and Jackie and Clarke Erskine of Wimberly; grandchildren Jennifer Abernathy of China Spring, Brenda Leuellen of Hutto, Eric McNeese of Brownwood and Brian Erskine of Austin; five great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Col. Reat served in the Pacific Theater during World World II as an Army Air Corps navigator. He was recalled in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict
and served in the Security Service the rest of his 33 years of service which was spent throughout the world. He ended his career as commander of Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo from 1969 to 1971. Graveside service is at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
