Travis Smith

SAN ANGELO Travis Smith, 94, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Visitation will be all day Monday, May 12, 2014, with the family present from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in Shaffer Funeral Home's Sherwood Way chapel. Graveside services will be held that afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way. Travis was born March 6, 1920, in Coleman County, Texas to Levi Smith and Allie (Davis) Smith. Travis married Lena Bea (Gilliam) Smith, on June 2, 1946, in Coleman, Texas. Travis joined the U.S. Army, and served in the famous 36th division, WWII. After the war he worked in the oil fields in 1949, then moved to San Angelo where he worked at Harrison Roofing Company for 25 years. In 1969, he moved to Coleman, Texas and started his own roofing company, Travis Smith Roofing Company. He moved back to San Angelo in 1979, where he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Inez Wells; and brothers Clarence Smith and Garland Smith. Travis is survived by his wife, Lena Bea; daughter Nancy Hendry and husband James; stepson Roland Curry and wife Cheryl; grandchildren Laura Nance and husband Mike and Kelli Norman and husband Kevin; great-grandchildren Lance Corporal Andrew Norman and Tiffany Norman; and sisters Lucille Seratte and Doris Bamber.
