William Huby Roach

SAN ANGELO William Huby Roach, 90, of San Angelo, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014, in a local hospital. Family visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, April, 7, 2014, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, in Miles Cemetery with Rev J. T. Tucker officiating, under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Huby was born on Sept. 16, 1923, to Johnny and Minerva Roach in Miles. He served his country in the US Army Air Corps during World War II with the 401st Bombardment Group, 615th Bombardment Squadron where he took part in the Normandy Invasion as a gunner on a B-17 Bomber, earning two Bronze Stars. Huby was an avid outdoorsman; enjoying fishing, hunting and feeding the wildlife. Huby loved having family and friends over for cookouts and gatherings out at his lake house. He could always be counted on to help those in need of help. Huby is survived by his sons, Bill Roach of San Angelo; Gary Roach and wife Denise of San Angelo; a sister, Ruby Smithwick of Miles; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
