My name is Carolyn [Carroll] McGaughey, and I remember Amy Pettit as my 3rd Grade Sunday School teacher at Harris Ave. Baptist Church in San Angelo, Tx. She loved all her students and gave time to each one by making them feel very important to her life. She gave us the love of Jesus in each S. S. lesson and because of her love of God and love of teaching God's Word, I was saved on Easter Sunday, April, 1948. Also, my daddy came forward that Sunday morning and he accepted the Lord as his Saviour. We both were baptized together at the evening service. Another S. S. girlfriend and neighbor, Patricia Brashear, was also saved that same Easter Sunday. Pat and I both married and our husbands were called into full-time ministry. Also, Pat and I each have a son who is in full time ministry. Amy Pettit had a great ministry in serving her Lord and because of her love of Jesus and love of people, Heaven will have many more because of her life!
Love and prayers to Lois and Vaden and all of Amy's family.

Amy was another mother to me and a dear confidante for many years. She was a loving grandmother to my daughters, Tess and Brynn...and we will truly miss the spark of Amy and yet know that she lives on in all the various lives that she touched. Thinking of you all and holding you near...Love, Tamarin

Amy was such a richly feisty and cool lady with a lot of spirit. I enjoyed listening to her life stories about picking cotton as a child and her experiences living through the Great Depression. We shared lots of laughs, swapping stories about our teaching experiences and all the wonderful students we’d encountered. I look forward to seeing her again someday. Lots of love and hugs to all of the family in this painful time. My heart is with you.

What a beautiful tribute to Amy. Thanks for sharing bits of her varied, rich life that I had not known. She has inspired me for years with her indomitable spirit, quest for serving those facing challenges, and her love of learning. Blessings on your family and her "chosen family" as you honor her and gather up your memories.
