SAN ANGELO Chloe Maurice Beck of Harriet died on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, in Shannon Medical Center, as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Maurice was born in Harriett, near Miles, Texas, to C.C. Beck and Floy (Roach) Beck. He grew up on the family farm and lived there the majority of his life. Maurice became a Christian at age 10, having been baptized at the original Harriett Baptist Church. Maurice was a 1948 graduate of San Angelo High School and received a degree in business administration in 1950, from San Angelo College. In 1951, he joined the United States Air Force and traveled to Germany during his tour. He received an honorable discharge in 1955. Maurice spent the next 40 years in the dairy business and retired in 2006. Maurice served as Republican Party chairman in his community for many years. In his spare time, he loved gardening and cooking. There is one thing without measure and that was his deep love for God and family. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend to many. Maurice will be greatly missed, dearly loved and always remembered in our thoughts and prayers. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Curtis, Charles and Bobby Gene Beck; sisters Janelle Schmidt and Patsy Ruth Hall; and nephew Dwayne Beck. Survivors are nieces and nephews, Lynda Kaye Young, Don Beck, Su Lee, Tonya Williams, Tim Miller, Robert K. Miller, Lisa Miller, Steve Schmidt, Kathy Godwin, Dennis Schmidt and Janice Picard. Other survivors include his brother-in-law, Bobby Schmidt and sister-in-law Patsy Beck; and many great-nieces and nephews. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at Harriett Baptist Church with burial following in Harriett Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Gutierrez Funeral Chapel-North. Pallbearers are LCpl Matthew Miller, Josh Corigan, Justin Corigan, Leno Rosales, Dennis Schmidt and Tomas Torres. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of San Angelo, PO Box 471, San Angelo, TX 76902.
