KYLE Remembering the life and memory of Laray Owens Taylor, who passed away on Oct. 1, 2013, at the age of 79. A native Texan, Laray was born in San Angelo and lived in Austin. Laray served loyally in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a proud veteran and father. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and Cowboys fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darnell Taylor; father Al Curtis Owens; mother Pauline Taylor Broadnax; and brother Al Curtis Owens Jr. He is survived by his brothers, Leroy Crawford and wife Marie and Haywood Owens and wife Cleo; children Paulette Taylor, Jeanette Taylor, Laray Owens Taylor Jr. and wife Angelica, Dacia Benton and husband Kerwin, Angela Adams and husband Fredd; grandchildren Aaron and Briana Taylor and Marselis, Bryson and Emery Benton, and Ameerah Howard. He is also survived by numerous other relatives. He was adored by family and friends, especially his dear and lifelong friend, James Alex and his wife Claudia. Visitation will be held at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle, Texas on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Paul Thompson. Procession to depart at 11:15 a.m. to gather at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at 1 p.m. for the rendering of full, military honors.
