BALLINGER Larry Joe "L.J." Nitsch Jr., 25, of Ballinger, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, in Ballinger. L.J. was born on Sept. 2, 1987, to Larry Joe Nitsch and Lisa (Carson) Yates in Ballinger. He graduated from Winters High School and continued his education, earning an associate's degree in law enforcement from South Plains College in Levelland. L.J. was a police officer with the Ballinger Police Department for three and half years. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joe and Lucy Nitsch. L.J. is survived by his mother, Lisa Yates and husband Alfred of Winters; his father, Larry Nitsch and wife Becky of Ballinger; fiancee Jessie Horton; brothers Joe "Bear" Nitsch and wife Kandice of Abilene, Garrett and friend Brittney Pena and Hayden Nitsch, both of Winters; and sister Meagan Smith and husband Justin of Ballinger. Also surviving maternal grandparents Walter Carson and wife Carleen of Ballinger, Sandra Reeves of Abilene; nieces Kendall and McKenna; nephews Jace, Kaeden, and Brody; and godparents Juan and Adela Galvan. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 29, at First United Methodist Church in Ballinger. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Winters. Arrangements are with Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Guests may register at ballinger.funeralhome.com.

The words are so hard this morning at the thought of saying good bye to LJ. He was like a son to me. We had so many long talks in the middle of the night. He was so sweet and caring. He will be missed so much. Prayers for all of the family and for you Jesse.
