SAN ANGELO Michael Lloyd Trusler passed away on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, in Houston, Texas, from complications during treatment for laryngeal cancer. A memorial service and visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church. Mike was born on Feb. 14, 1948, the third child of Graydon Tipton and Alice McGarr Trusler. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1967, and attended the University of Texas before graduating from Angelo State University in 1973. On Jan. 2, 1971, Mike and Sally LeFevre were married in San Angelo. They are the parents of Michael Albert (Mat) and Jonathan Todd Trusler. During college, Mike began working in the mailroom of Central National Bank, now Wells Fargo. During his 29 years at the bank, he worked in the operations, trust and loan departments. Most recently, he supervised the special assets department at 1st Community Federal Credit Union. Mike earned the confidence of his customers by living by his principles of honesty and integrity, making everyone feel at ease with his warm and friendly personality. He had a quick wit and a way with words. Mike gained humility and wisdom in overcoming obstacles in life and willingly shared his experiences to help others. He had a generous and loving heart and gave the best hugs. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He looked forward to golfing weekends with the Fourth of July group, road trips to Disney World, reading a good book and relaxing in his rocking chair. Mike was a member of Sierra Vista UMC. Mike served his community on the board of the Boys and Girls Club, as a member of the Downtown Lion's Club and most recently, completed CASA training. He volunteered for the Boy Scouts and the United Way and was Santa for over 20 Christmases for Make a Wish and the Arnie Dillo Club. Mike is survived by his wife, Sally; their sons and families, Mat, Ang and Chloe of Bangkok, Thailand, and Todd and Ashley of Denver, Colo. His surviving extended family include his sister, Loye Barnes and her husband, John; mother-in-law Mamie LeFevre; sisters-in-law Susan Pelletier and husband Tony and Laura Malloy and husband Tim; nieces and nephews Alice Viroslav, Kathy Stell, Tipton Barnes, Graydon Trusler, Alex Trusler, Lauren Pelletier, Trent Pelletier, Chris Malloy, Clint Malloy and Allison Brooks; and numerous grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Graydon Trusler; and father-in-law C.A. LeFevre, DDS. The Truslers give thanks to their friends and family who have supported and prayed for them during Mike's illness. They are also grateful to the medical communities of San Angelo and MD Anderson Cancer Center for their professional excellence.
