SAN ANGELO Tommy Dean Ball, 78, of Junction, passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2013. Memorial service will be 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church of Junction. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way. Tommy was born in Runnels County Nov. 29, 1934, the son of John H. and Janie Ball. Mr. Ball moved from Wilmeth, Texas to Junction with his family in 1947. He graduated from Junction High School in 1952. He attended North Texas State University for two years, and then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for four years. He was stationed in San Antonio; Bloomington, Indiana and Germany. After his discharge, he attended the University of Texas at Austin where he received his bachelor's degree in 1960. He later received an MA from Sul Ross State University and an MS from San Diego State University. Mr. Ball was a secondary school teacher for 28 years. He taught in El Paso, Anchorage, Alaska, Anaheim, Calif., Corpus Christi and Junction. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy Sanders. He is survived by his brother, John and wife Delores Ball of Junction; brother-in-law Harrell Sanders, of Iraan; nieces and nephews Jan Bruce and husband Lynn of San Angelo, Sherry Sanders of Midland, James Sanders and wife Betty of Radcliff, Ky., Ross Sanders of Midland and Mindy Supak and husband Rudy of Smithville; and grandnieces and nephews including Sara Sanders of Junction.
