SAN ANGELO On Wednesday, April 30, 2014, William Elbert Fiveash, age 94, entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Elbert was born on Oct. 21, 1919, in Coleman County, Texas, to John and Ruth Fiveash. As a young boy, Elbert moved with his family to the Dry Hollow community in Concho County, Texas, where he grew up, later raised a family and lived a long and fruitful life. During World War II, Elbert served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army, serving in the European and Pacific theaters. At the end of the war, he received an honorable discharge and returned to Concho County in 1945. In 1946, Elbert met the love of his life, Ruby Bridges, from San Angelo and they were married in September 1947, spending 66 wonderful years together, farming and ranching and raising their family. Elbert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Fiveash; his brothers, Ed, Wayne and J.B. Fiveash; his sisters, Ima Ray Lester and Vera Hedden; and his granddaughter, Cheyenne Marie Fiveash. Elbert is survived by his wife, Ruby; sons William J (Bill) Fiveash and his wife, Patrice, and Roy Fiveash and his wife, Donna; his brother, A.L. Jack Fiveash; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. As our family's patriarch and leader, he will be greatly missed until our reunion in Heaven. The family wishes to thank doctors Charles Jones and Gene Sherrod for the years of medical care, the entire nursing staff at Shannon Hospital for excellent care during the many hospital stays and the San Angelo Hospice staff for their care over the past few weeks. Viewing will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, with family present from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, in Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with internment following in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with Robert Massie Funeral Home. Pallbearers for the service are Michael Fiveash, Christopher Fiveash, Billy Fiveash, Jeremy Gregg, J.B. Fiveash Jr. and David Finley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the local Children's Miracle Network in memory of Elbert and Cheyenne Fiveash; or the .
