WINTERS Fredrick W. (Freddie) Bredemeyer of Winters died on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at the age of 87. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Winters, Texas, officiated by Pastor Alsen Wenzel. Freddie was born Feb. 2, 1926, in Winters to Hermon (Slim) and Minnie Minzenmayer Bredemeyer and was married to Juanita Pruser on April 2, 1957. He was preceded in death by his parents. He left school to serve in the Navy during World War II in California and the Asiatic Pacific Theater as a fireman/engineer. Under a special legislation bill for military personnel, he received his high school diploma on Oct. 12, 2001, effective May 18, 1944. He was a lifetime resident of Winters and was active in farming and livestock until his retirement. He was named Outstanding Association Member of the Winters Young Farmers in 1976, and Outstanding Association Farmer by the State Association in 1977. The Bredemeyer family was honored as Outstanding Wheat Producing Family by the Fort Worth Star Telegram in 1991 and Farm Family of the Year in 1994, by the Winters Chamber of Commerce. He served on several boards of directors in Runnels County and was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he served on several committees. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Juanita; sons Rodrick and wife Donna, Malcolm and wife Sharen of Winters, Lindsey and wife Sheila of Bryan; grandchildren John and Lori Bredemeyer Ryan of Minneapolis, Minn., Leah Bredemeyer of Boerne, Kevin, Kelton and Lauren Bredemeyer of Winters; great-grandson Jacob Ryan of Minneapolis, Minn.; sisters Helen Wessels of Midland, Juanita Wilson of Winters, Margaret Wessels of Bryan; brother Bobby Bredemeyer of Austin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
