SAN ANGELO Gilbert "Hambo" Cedillo, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his devoted family on May 18, 2012. Gilbert was born on June 15, 1938, in San Angelo, to Antonio and Eulojia Cedillo. He attended San Angelo schools, where he was a member of the Central High School golf team. He proudly served in the National Guard for 17 years and actively served in the United States Army. He retired from Western Air Conditioning after 35 years of service, as a heating and cooling technician. Gilbert married Rosa Serrano on June 10, 1960. Together they built a home filled with love, loyalty, and laughter. They shared many wonderful years together, while creating countless memories. Most of all, Gilbert and Rosa enjoyed their frequent getaways to Las Vegas. Gilbert was an avid golfer and enjoyed any time he could spend on the golf course with his family and friends, especially his late brother, Cato. Following retirement, he found himself to be caretaker, errand runner, and the chauffeur to everyone. He helped care for his parents, as well as his in-laws. He also enjoyed his role as ?cabbie' to his grandchildren. Gilbert never met a stranger and he had unconditional love to all who entered his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Eulojia Cedillo; his brother, Cato Cedillo; and his in-laws, Albert and Trini Serrano. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Rosa; children Barbara Medellin and husband Herberto, Andy Cedillo of Copperas Cove, Laura Sosa and husband Joey, and Gilbert Cedillo of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Trina Delgado and husband Martin, Serena Sosa and Nolan Sosa; siblings Tony Cedillo, Emma Montelongo, and Gloria Rios. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Albert Serrano and his wife, Mary Lou, whom he considered his best friends. Nephews will serve as pallbearers: Jesse Serrano, Albert Serrano, Raymond Serrano, Robert Serrano, Larry Montelongo, and Richard Cedillo. Lifetime friends will serve as honorary pallbearers: Ray Moya, Preston Miller, Lino Rivas, Shane Dienda, Gene Lara, Ben Flores, Lupe Gutierrez, and Tony Flores. Viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, and rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, May 21, both at Robert Massie Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, at St. Margaret's Church. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.
