Jimmy Bramlett Obituary

SAN ANGELO Jimmy McFerran Bramlett passed away from this life on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010. Jimmy was born in Fort Smith, Ark., on Dec. 4, 1938, to Betty Louise McFerran Bramlett and Herman Cecil Bramlett. He lived in Fort Smith until 1951, when his family moved to San Angelo. From that day forward, Jimmy embraced and loved all things "Texas." He especially loved the football teams of the Dallas Cowboys and the University of Texas Longhorns. After graduation from San Angelo High School, Jimmy went into the refrigeration and air conditioning trade. He worked for Angelo Refrigeration before starting his own business, RACO, with partner, Lee Haynie. When they closed their business, Jimmy went to work for Town & Country Food Stores. He oversaw the maintenance and installation of refrigeration and air conditioning of new and existing stores. He retired in 2009, but not finding enough outlets for his energy, he began doing special jobs for Daryl Cates at A-Tex Restaurant Supply on a part-time basis. Jimmy was very devoted to his faith and his family. He was an active member of Lakeview Bible Church. His children and his grandchildren were his greatest joy on earth. He was a coach, Boy Scout leader and supporter of any activity in which his children participated. Jimmy also served as president of the Businessmen's Bible Class, president of the Refrigeration Service Engineers' Society and the president of the San Angelo Jaycees. He was Jaycee of the Year in 1971-1972. Left to cherish his memory are children James Keith Bramlett of Austin, Bettina LaBarba of Carrollton, and their mother, Bette Bramlett; also Ryan Bramlett of Austin, Jaycie Bohn of San Angelo, Reid Bramlett of San Angelo, and their mother, Merrellyn McMillen of Roach, Mo. Also grandchildren Matthew Bramlett, Aubrey Mollock, Emory Bohn and Rowan Bramlett. Also great-grandchildren Truett and Molly Bramlett. Also his sister, Bette Allison; special cousin Katsy Morris; and lifelong best friend, Billy Pierce. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel, followed by interment in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving visitors from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Don Allison, Daryl Cates, Keith Fausnacht, David Glasscock, Jim Little, Jason Morris, Mike Morris and Billy Pierce. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to special caregiver, Gail Rodriguez. Family and friends may sign an online register book at johnsons-funeralhome.com.

To my wife Jaycie, my Brother-in-laws Reid, Ryan, and Jimmy Keith, and Sister-in-law, Bettina. Your Dad was a God send to me and I will allway's cherish the memories that I had with him, our arguments about football, and how I mowed his grass better than him etc. He was my Dad away from home and allways from the first time I met him, made me feel like I was part of the family. I am going to miss him more than you all will ever know. Dad was my second chance and I will live on, in his honor because that is what I promised him when I married you, Jaycie.

I love you guy's and be strong.
Steve

Jimmy was the ideal business and personal friend. He was: Always there and willing to help; honest and trustworthy; respected by all; set a great example for others to follow; hard-working; dependable; knew his business and was always willing to share his knowledge. It was certainy a pleasure to have known Jimmy for so many years (probably over 40). I choose to remember all the good, fun times and hope all his Family and friends will do so as well. Here's to you Jimmy -- thanks for the memories! And thanks for being YOU...............

Sorry to hear about Jimmy's passing. I knew Jimmy way back when he was dating Betty whose family lived behind us (we lived on Park and they lived on Shafter). May the children have great memories and feel the comforting hand of God during this time.
