KERRVILLE Jose Martin Gonzales, 44, of Kerrville, Texas, passed from this life to spend an eternity in Heaven on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, in a San Antonio, Texas, hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 8, 1970, in Junction, Texas, to parents Gonzalo Gonzalez and Maria Trinidad Sanchez Gonzalez. Martin grew up in Junction, where he was a spunky, mischievous young boy with a contagious smile. He was a proud member of the powerful and unstoppable Junction Eagles football team, the sport he relished while in high school. He was a man of merit and impeccable work ethic who took much pride in all that his father taught him and he applied it to everyday life. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and barbecuing. He always had an eye on the open range and an appreciation for nature's beauty. Martin loved the majestic, raw beauty of the Colorado Mountains which he once visited. Employed by PEC for eight years as a B-lineman, he aspired to "climb" his way up the ladder. "We will forever be thankful to God for this precious loving individual that taught us to love and appreciate simple beauties in life." He was preceded in death by his father, Gonzalo Gonzalez Sr.; sister Luz Gonzalez; and brother Jose Martin Gonzalez. Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Gloria Arevalo-Gonzales; stepson Jake Levi Jimenez of Kerrville, Texas; sons Nathan Gonzales and Martin Gonzales of Brady, Texas; his daughter, Meaghan Nicole Gonzales of Brady, Texas; stepsons Rommie Gloria, Reno Alonzo and ex-wife Rose Mary Gonzales, all from Brady, Texas. Martin is additionally survived by his mother, Maria Trindad Gonzalez of Junction, Texas; brothers and spouses, Gonzalo Gonzales Jr. (Blanca) of Junction, Texas, Gene Gonzales (Mary) of San Antonio, Texas, and Fidencio Gonzales (Patricia) of Comfort, Texas; sisters and spouses, Elvira Alvarez (Juan) of Sonora, Texas, Reyna Lopez (Jim) of Ingram, Texas, Anita Rojas (Eloy) of Kerrville, Texas; many loving nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends, neighbors and co-workers who will miss him dearly. The family wishes to graciously thank all the PEC staff for all their support, along with the Tomlinson's, the Johnson's, Child Protective Services staff, Divinity Family Services staff, Mount Wesley staff and Pastor Noah Diggs.
