Kenneth Stricklin Obituary

ARLINGTON Kenneth Strickllin passed away after a brief illness Saturday, June 12, 2010, in a hospital in Arlington. Graveside service will be at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Dr. Dennis Wiles, pastor of First Baptist Church, Arlington, will officiate. Kenneth was 87, having been born Dec. 17, 1922, in Venus, son of Jesse and Effie Stricklin. His wife of 43 years, Patty Jane Woods Stricklin, preceded him in death in 1995. He was a retired salesman and food manager, providing good food, good service and pleasant conversation for people in San Angelo and West Texas for a half century. People from all over West Texas called Ken friend. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. A devout man, he studied the Bible every day and was joyful in the belief that he and Patty would be reunited in heaven. Their love was a great love. They leave four surviving children, Michael and wife Chere of Teresina, Brazil, David and wife Mary Jane of Arlington, Jane and partner Candy Parker of Springfield, Ill., and Cathy Becknell of Haltom City; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Jane and family, thnking of you this morning. Kenneth had such a long and full life and was the most faithful person I ever knew. He had a sense of humor, too, and loved to tell stories of you kids' antics. That was a long time ago. How time flies.
