MIDLAND Leonard Lara went home to be with our Lord on June 29, 2013. He was surrounded by his loving family on Saturday after fighting a courageous battle with long-term illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merce and Cecilia Lara. Leonard was a man of integrity and respect, he was his grandchildren's hero, he loved having his family around him and he loved the San Antonio Spurs as well. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph of San Angelo Catholic Church. Leonard is survived by his wife of 16 yrs, Martha Lara; and children Leonard Lara and wife LaLa, Melissa Lara and husband KeKe, Amanda Lara and husband Matthew, all of Midland, Joe L. Garcia, Rose Garfias and husband Mike, Juanita Robles and Michael Robles, all of San Angelo, Texas. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Tony Lara and wife Sue, Mary Olguin and husband Joe, Rosie Ruiz and husband Tony of Midland, Texas, George Lara of Dallas, Texas, Suzy Lara, Merce Lara and wife Diana of San Angelo, Texas, and Gilbert Lara of Oakland, Calif. Leonard leaves his legacy of 20 grandchildren. They will miss their PaPa. Psalm: 25:21 His Lord said to him, "Well done good and faithful servant; thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make you the ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord." A rosary will be held tonight at 7 p.m. in Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin chapel. Funeral Mass is set for 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Funeral Mass is entrusted to the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel.
