SAN ANGELO Martha Pauline "Polly" Stoner, 85, of San Angelo, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, in a local care center. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, in Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with the Rev. Guy White officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 10, 2014. Services are entrusted with Robert Massie Funeral Home. She was born on Dec. 23, 1928, to James and Gladys (Prater) Skidmore at Topeka, Kan. She attended school in Rossville, Kan. She married Marvin Stoner on June 1, 1947, in Rossville, Kan. Martha worked as a seamstress for numerous years, but quilting was her true passion. Polly started a quilting group at Southland Baptist Church where she was a member at the time. Martha is survived by her loving spouse of 66 years, Marvin Stoner; daughter Diane Batko and husband Dan of San Angelo; two sons, Gary Stoner and wife Belinda of Sasche, James Stoner and wife Kathy of Conroe; three grandsons, Greg Stoner and wife Denise of St. Louis, Mo., Bryan Stoner of Conroe, Justin Batko of San Angelo; two granddaughters, Kendall Williams and husband Joshua of Burbank, Calif., Haley Stoner of Conroe; two great-grandsons, Daniel Williams of Burbank, Calif., Avery Williams of Burbank, Calif.; a great-granddaughter, Thalia Williams of Burbank, Calif.; brother-in-law Wayne Stoner and wife Dorothy of Tempe, Ariz.; and many friends.
