SAN ANGELO Vera Gentry Trowbridge of Grape Creek, 84, went home to be with our Savior on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013. She was born on March 25, 1928, to the late Carl and Edna Gentry. Vera graduated from Richland Springs High School and received her teaching degree from Howard Payne College in Brownwood, Texas. On Aug. 2, 1947, Vera married the love of her life, Alton Curtis Trowbridge. She taught school for 28 years, 25 of those at Bradford Elementary School, retiring in 1988. Vera was an active member of Grape Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed many trips across the United States and a mission trip to Brazil. Vera is survived by her husband; her daughter, Carolyn and husband Ray Delone; son Alton and wife Rulea; son Harlon and wife Danna; and sister Inez Groff. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Vera was preceded in death by brothers Royce Gentry and the Rev. L.R. Gentry. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Grape Creek Baptist Church, interment in Grape Creek Cemetery.
