ATHENS Freda Barton-Baker, 58, of Murchison, was called home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 29, 2014. She was known by "Miss Freda" and "Fritz" to many who loved her. She was born Sept. 5, 1955, in San Angelo to George Dewey and Bertha Jeanette DeMoville Barton Sr. Freda was full of life, love and faith. She lived her life to the fullest and loved her children, family and friends like only she could do. She attended San Angelo public schools and in 1972, moved to Georgia for a brief time. In 1977, she moved back to East Texas. She was a member of Living for the Brand Cowboy Church. Freda was preceded in death by her mother; and a brother, George Dewey Barton Jr. Survivors include her husband, Gary Baker, Murchison; son Eric Eaker and wife Jacqulyn, Midland; daughters Jennifer Morrison, Athens, Bryann Ashley Caldwell, McKinney, Chyann Baker, Murchison; father George "Buddy" Barton Sr., Payne Springs; sisters Chris Key and partner Charles Massey, Payne Springs, Linda Moser Baugh, San Angelo; stepchildren Jerry Baker, Dora Bonderud and Stephanie Baker; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Service for Freda is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Living for the Brand Cowboy Church with the Rev. Dale Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Athens Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Cody Embrey, Eric Eaker, Buddy Barton, Norbert Mosler, Homer Allred, Steve Currin, Jeremy Stephenson and Donald Goines. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Whatley and Harold Currin. Visitation for family and friends was held Thursday at the funeral home.
