SAN ANGELO Ruth Ledford Chester, 95, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Senior Care Center of San Angelo, where she had been a resident for the last five years. Ruth was born on March 4, 1919, in Walters, Oklahoma, to Charlie and Myrtle Robins. Ruth worked at and later retired from the Hagar Slacks Company and managed a Love's Convenience Store in Walters, Oklahoma. She was also a very talented seamstress and sewed for the public for many years. Ruth moved to San Angelo in 1999, and lived at Rio Concho Manor where she made many friends. She loved dancing, socializing and was always ready to go shopping. Ruth loved to bake, sew and make pretty clothes. She always looked stylish and had a beautiful smile. She was very kind and thoughtful to others and enjoyed bringing her friends to visit the farm in Eola. She always baked a beautiful chocolate cake when she came to visit. She is survived by three sons, Gary Ledford and wife Debra of Eola, Denny Ledford and wife Jackie of Alex, Oklahoma, and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Ledford of Chickasha, Oklahoma. Ruth also leaves several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, in Eola Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Steven Sweet of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church officiating.
