BALLINGER James Glen McFarland, 87, of Saginaw, Texas, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014, in Keller, Texas. James was born June 12, 1926, to John and Willie (Wood) McFarland on Gross Ranch in Ballinger, Texas. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the 423rd Bombardment Squadron, serving in Italy and France, as an aerial photographer. On July 6, 1945, James married Norma Baker in Ballinger and they have enjoyed 68 wonderful years together. After his military service, James began his lifelong career as a rancher. He was also well-known as a horse trainer and calf roper. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Kenneth McFarland. James is survived by his wife, Norma of Saginaw; a daughter, Marcia Lyle of Keller; his granddaughter, Mandy Smith and husband Jason; and great-granddaughters Regan and Siara. Visitation for family and friends will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. in Old Runnels Cemetery in Ballinger.
