SAN ANGELO Willie Fay Jeter Shovan went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2014. Fay, as she preferred to be called was born on Jan. 12, 1942, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Willie Elijah Jeter and Opal Plumlee, who preceded her in death. Fay married Gary Shovan in 1962, and spent the next 23 years traveling the world as a military spouse. Fay was a wonderful mother to her two children, Tammy and Alan and beloved by her grandchildren Gina, Garrett, Stacey, Nicholas, Madison and Bailee. She was also known as "Grandma Fay" to Samantha, Danielle, Kendis, Harlee, Bode, Patrick and Jesse, Llando and Ellie, and many other children whose lives she touched. Fay was a strong and independent woman who never let her illnesses hold her back or keep her from enjoying time with her family. She had a wry sense of humor and kept her chin up and her faith in God through all her trials and tribulations. She was a member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church and active in all the children's ministries there. Fay was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Wanda Jeter; her husband, Gary Shovan; brother Bobby Jeter; and her sisters, Edna Shelby and Nora Marshall. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy and husband Joe Grossheim of San Angelo and their children, Gina, Stacey and Bailee; her son, Alan Shovan of Fremont, Nebraska and his children, Garrett, Nicholas and Madison; her sisters, Betty Jane and husband Oscar Newberry of Dimebox, Texas and Katie and her husband Eddie Lavery of Wichita Falls, Texas. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Shannon Medical Center's ICU unit for their efforts and compassion during this stressful time. Memorials may be made to Glen Meadows Baptist Church Children's Ministries or Baylor University Missions. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Johnson's Funeral Home, 435 W. Beauregard Ave, San Angelo, Texas. Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, at Glen Meadows Baptist Church, 6002 Knickerbocker Rd.
