He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1948 to 1952, and earned a Purple Heart during his time in the Korean War. Desmond had numerous other interests in life; he was an avid reader which allowed him to have a vast knowledge to do almost anything. He wore many hats and was able to help almost anyone on any project. He also loved his cast iron cooking. Desmond was a loving husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to his family and helping people and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
