SAN ANGELO Lynda Gilbert McCorkel went to be with our Lord, her family and friends on Saturday, June 29, 2013. Lynda began her true calling in life as a candy striper at Baptist Memorials Hospital while in high school. Her life work was to work with and help people. She never met a stranger, she loved talking and sharing with everyone. She had the biggest heart of any person. Lynda was married to Marvin McCorkel for 20 years. Lynda was born May 22, 1950, to Alton and Barbara Gilbert in San Angelo. Lynda is survived by her mother, Barbara Gilbert; husband Marvin McCorkel; sons Johnny Bland of San Angelo and Mark Bland and wife Stacey of Midland, Texas; daughter Sabryna Fluhmann and husband Jeremy of Robert Lee, Texas; brothers Allen Gilbert and wife Michelle and Kary Don Gilbert; and many grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Alton Gilbert; and daughter Katrina Dawn Bland. Lynda's loving and caring personality will be missed by all that knew her. Heaven has gained a special angel that will take care of us here on earth. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Bronte, Texas. In lieu of flowers, you may send a donation to
