SAN ANGELO Johnny Dale Adcock Sr. was born on Nov. 20, 1956, in Spur, Texas. Johnny could do almost anything, a "Jack of all trades", according to family, but "master of none", according to him. He was kind and generous, always giving away more than he had. After serving the City of San Angelo for 20 years, he retired and used his time to help others. He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. "Bunky" Adcock; his mother, Donna Strain Adcock; and his sister, Teressa Adcock Crane. He is survived by son Jason and Mandy Adcock of San Angelo; stepson Johnny Adcock of Corpus Christi; sister Margaret Adcock Cusack and Bill Cusack of Corpus Christi; and sister Brenda Adcock Green and Jimmy Green of Houston, Texas; as well as grandchildren Devon Cole of Abilene, Texas, Emily, Mallory, Daniela and Jason Jr. Adcock of San Angelo. The family would like to thank special friends Jim Thorp, Wesley White and Roger Irvin; as well as special thanks to Hospice, Molly Riley, Cindy Baca and Jennifer Price; as well as Jason's mom, Linda Hanlon. After a short bout with brain cancer, Johnny was surrounded by family as he passed in the home of his son on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013. Johnny loved the Lord, was always serving the local church and had a heart bigger than his cowboy boots. We are thankful for the time we had with him, the memories, the laughter and the love. Johnny is in a better place now; no more pain, suffering or discomfort. While he is no longer with us, his legacy of love will live on and for that we are grateful. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Grape Creek Cemetery. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30 Family and friends may sign an online register book at johnsons-funeralhome.com.
