San Angelo
Patty Sue Chinn, 74, of San Angelo, passed away on April 10, 2017 at a local hospital.
Patty was born on Sept 6, 1942 in Waco, Texas, the only child of Walter Avon and Freda Kazia (Schrimsher) Patterson. From the age of five, she was raised and cared for by her maternal grandmother, Malta Lee (Daugherty) Schrimsher who was a descendant of Charles Goodknight.
She graduated in 1961 from Central High School. Despite proclaiming she would never marry an airman, she married John L. Chinn on Oct. 9, 1965 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Patty and John were stationed in Italy, Germany, San Antonio, Texas, Altus, Oklhoma and Abilene, Texas before returning to live in San Angelo, Texas. While living in Altus, she became a beautician and co-owner of a beauty salon.
She was a member of Southland Baptist Church.
Patty is survived by her loving spouse of 51 years John, two daughters, Angela Rene Griffin and husband Steve of Sterling City, Texas and Deanna Gay Westerman of San Angelo, Texas; son, John Russell Chinn and wife Amanda of San Angelo, Texas; three granddaughters, Stephanie Rene Deo and husband Alexander of Dallas, TX, Tiffany Lynn Griffin of Sterling City, Texas, and Emily Danielle Chinn of San Angelo, Texas; four grandsons, Tyler McCade Westerman, Justin Lee Westerman, Jarrett Bryce Westerman, and Austin Brylee Chinn all of San Angelo and her lifelong very special friend Dorothy Ann Williams.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and maternal grandmother.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Robert Massie Funeral Home, San Angelo, Texas.
Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the Robert Massie Riverside Chapel, San Angelo, Texas, with Dr. Matt Walton, Associate Pastor of Southland Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers will be Leslie Bruce, Alexander Deo, Steve Griffin, Shorty Radde, Jarrett Westerman and Tyler Westerman. Honorary pallbearers are Ben Davis, Tim Sanders and Paul Williams.
Burial will take place in the Fairmount Cemetery.
