Ottis Paul Lanter, 98, of Williamstown, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Sam Cassel Lanter and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his sons: Paul (Julia) Lanter and Mark Lanter; a brother, Dr. Kenneth Elwood Lanter; a sister, Emma Gene Biggs and several nieces and nephews.
A staff sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II, Ottis was a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he earned his law degree. He practiced law over 50 years and was the Commonwealth attorney for 20 years. He retired from private practice in 2002.
Ottis was a lifelong member of the Dry Ridge Christian Church, a senior counselor with the American Bar Association, a life member of the Crittenden – Dry Ridge Lodge #694 F. & A. M., member of the Scottish Rite 32nd degree Valley of Covington and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with funeral services being held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31 at the Elliston – Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown.
Burial will be in the Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge.
