Wendell Owen


Wendell L. Owen, 74, of Nancy, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Wendell was born on March 3, 1938 in Pulaski County to the late Clarence and Vida Burton Owen.
He was a truck driver for World Wide Equipment of Somerset and 35 years with Roadway Express of Cincinnati, Ohio. Wendell was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Nancy and the Masonic Lodge in Covington.
He married Regena Norfleet Owen on Oct. 7, 1981 in Nancy.
Survivors include his wife, Regena Norfleet Owen; a son Steven (Dawn) Owen of Berea; daughters, Staci Owen of Dry Ridge, Shellie (Jimmy) Young of Nancy and Missie (Zeb) Davis of Monticello; a son-in-law, Gary Rose of Dry Ridge. 13 grandchildren, Ashley Owen, London Owen, Lane Owen, Jennie Rose, Josh Rose, Jason (Kim) Turpen, Kyle (Sarah) Turpen, Cody Light, Cory Light, Jaylann Woolridge, Jakobe Lasley, Tayshawn Beneford and Kamara Sloan and a great grandchild, Preston Turpen.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Rose and a brother, Morris Owen.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 16 at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Harris officiating.
Burial was in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Nancy.
Pallbearers were Lane Owen, Josh Rose, Jason Turpen, Kyle Turpen, Cody Light, Cory Light, Jaylan Woolridge, Jakobe Lasley and Tayshawn Beneford.
Memorials can be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Wendell L. Owen.
