Millard James "Jim" Blackney, 84, of Dry Ridge, died Monday, May 5, 2014, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Grant County.
He was born on August 20, 1929 in San Diego, Calif. and was the son of the late Raymond and Helen Stanage Blackney.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a retired Civil Service Program Analyst for the U. S. Air Force.
On August 6, 1977 Jim was united in marriage to Evelyn "Sue" Covey Blackney, he was an avid fisherman, golfer, craftsman, gardener and he was former Dry Ridge City Council member. In Jim's younger days he was also a volunteer EMT and firefighter, as well as a wildland firefighter.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Evelyn "Sue" Covey Blackney; sons, James Raymond "Jim" Blackney of Rhome, Texas and Steven Dale Blackney of Wichita Falls, Texas; a daughter, Gay Lynn Blackney Doerre of Burkburnett, Texas; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
