Gladys Lucas (1920 - 2017)

Gladys Bowles Lucas, 97, a long-time Williamstown resident, died Nov. 11, 2017 in Landrum, South Carolina.
She was born Aug. 31, 1920 in Barren County and was the daughter of the late Jesse Harris and Fannie Walker Button Bowles.
On March 9, 1941, she was united in marriage to Roscoe Clayton Lucas, who preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1986 following 45 years of marriage.
She was a member of Williamstown United Methodist Church and a retired partner of Lucas Drug Store, which was operated by the family in Williamstown for 73 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Sally Moore and her husband, Arthur, of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; sisters, Betty Browing of Glasgow and Juda Furlong of Burnside; grandchildren, Douglas Moore of Greenville, South Carolina and Elizabeth Daniel of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; four great grandchildren, Casey Daniel of Athens, Georgia, Emily Charlson of Marietta, Georgia, Julia Moore of Simpsonville, South Carolina and Lucas Moore of Simpsonville, South Carolina and a great great grandson, Davis Charlson of Marietta, Georgia.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Thomas and a brother, J.C. Bowles, both formerly of Glasgow.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17 with funeral services being held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown.
Burial will be in the Williamstown Cemetery.
