Jean Amburgey Reed, 88, of Florence, formerly of Crittenden, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at the Villaspring of Erlanger Nursing Facility.

She was a retired school teacher of 36 years with Grant County and Simon-Kenton High Schools. She was a member of the Crittenden Christian Church, the Kenton County Retired Teachers Association and the Williamstown Chapter #301 Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her sons, John (Phyllis) Reed of Crestview Hills and Ott (Sandy) Reed of Dry Ridge; a daughter, Carole (Jim Perry) Reed-Mahoney of Florence; a brother, Wesley Amburgey, Jr. of Harriman, Tenn.; a sister, Edra Estes of Athens, Ga., five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Joe Schneider Reed; her parents, John Wesley (Sr.) and Lettie Caroline Hammons Amburgey; a brother, Glennis Amburgey and a sister, Alma Nycum.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 20 with funeral service at 11a.m. Sept. 21 at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Crittenden.
Burial will be in the Crittenden Cemetery.
