James Althus Higdon, 85, of Clarkson, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was born Aug. 31, 1932, in Clarkson, the son of Dent and Myrtle Hill Higdon. He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, a Bronze Star Veteran of the Korean Conflict, an officer and volunteer at the American Legion Post 81 for more than 25 years, and a material handler at GE for 39 years.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Jean Pierce Higdon; four sons, James Douglas Higdon (Janie), William Patrick Higdon (Phyllis), David J. Higdon (Renee), and Jonathan Eric Higdon (Tracy); eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Pete Higdon.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Patrick and Alex Higdon; one great-grandchild, Joshua Birch; three brothers; and five sisters.
The funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Burial is in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with a Rosary recitation at 7 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Watson & Hunt Funeral Directors in Leitchfield.
